  • UNICOIL was established in Al-Jubail Industrial City by two leading Saudi industrial groups: Zamil Holding Group and Rashed Al-Rashed & Sons Group.
  • Decision taken to set up a Color Coating Line for organic coating of galvanized steel, aluminum-zinc coated steel, and aluminum coils, with an initial capacity of 120,000 metric tons per year.

UNICOIL enters a joint venture cooperation with BHP in Australia (now BlueScope Australia).

1997

Commissioning of the first production line supplied by FATA Hunter (later acquired by Danieli, Italy), with a capacity of 120,000 metric tons per year for pre-painted galvanized steel, aluminum-zinc coated steel, and aluminum coils.

  • UNICOIL became a 100% Saudi-owned company.
  • Certified to ISO 9001:2000 for Quality Management Systems for the production of pre-painted galvanized steel coils.

Decision to establish a Cold Mill Complex with the following capacities:

    • Push-Pull Pickling Line: 400,000 MT/year
    • Cold Rolling Mill: 340,000 MT/year
    • Continuous Hot-Dip Galvanizing Line: 250,000 MT/year

Commissioning of Cold-Rolled Steel Coils and Galvanized Steel Coils production lines.

Increased annual capacity of pre-painted steel coils by 90,000 MT/year through acquisition of a plant in Jeddah, raising total capacity to 210,000 MT/year.

Certified to ISO 9001:2008 for Quality Management Systems covering:

    • Metallic Coated Products – Galvanized Steel Coils.
    • Organic Coated Products – Pre-Painted Galvanized Steel, Aluminum-Zinc Coated Steel, and Aluminum Coils.

Achieved cumulative production of 1 million metric tons of Organic Coated Products.

Commissioned two Roll-Formed Steel Sheet lines with a combined capacity of 18 million linear meters per year.

    • OHSAS 18001:2007 – Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Accredited with Jordan Quality Mark (JQM) by JISM.
  • Commissioned:
    • Narrow Slitting Line (GI coils, ID 160–300 mm, width up to 600 mm).
    • Cut-to-Length Line (0.25–1.5 mm thickness, max width 1300 mm).
    • Paint Mixing Station.

  • Accredited with Quality Mark by the Kuwaiti General Committee for Standardization.
  • UNICOIL Laboratories accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2005 by DAC (later EIAC – ILAC-MRA signatory).
  • Began production of:
    • Eco-friendly Trichrome Galvanized Steel Coils & Sheets.
    • Chromium-Free Pre-Painted Steel Coils & Sheets.
  • Commissioned paint viscosity thermal control system to maintain consistency across weather conditions.

  • Certified to ISO/IEC 27001:2013 – Information Security Management System.

  • Achieved 1.6 million safe man-hours without Lost Time Injury (LTI) from January 5, 2020, to May 5, 2022.
  • Crossed 5 million metric tons cumulative production of Organic and Metallic Coated Steel Coils.

  • Officially certified as a Great Place to Work® organization.
  • Implemented Business Continuity Management System.
  • Obtained Saudi Aramco Cybersecurity Compliance Certificate (CCC) in line with SACS-002 standards.
  • Continued SAP digital transformation:
    • Migration from SAP R/3 (2006) to SAP S/4HANA (2019).
    • Transition to RISE with SAP (2025) enabling cloud-based operations, embedded AI/ML, simplified data models, Fiori UX, and accelerated innovation.

  • Successfully completed ISO 27001 recertification and upgrade to ISO 27001:2022, including updated risk assessments, revised Statement of Applicability, gap analysis, and transition audit.

  • Implemented KSA Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) policies, establishing robust governance for data privacy, consent, security, breach reporting, and data subject rights in alignment with Vision 2030.
  • Established Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) framework to promote sustainability, environmental stewardship, and community engagement.
  • Completed Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) and Health Product Declaration (HPD) registrations.
  • Commissioned a Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) for the Color Coating Line, ensuring compliance with RCER Regulations 2025 and achieving significant natural gas savings.
